Nutrition

Food sources such as grass, hay, haylage, or straw contain fibre (plant cell walls), whch is necessary for digestive health. Feed the horses a lot of large quantities of food, such as grass, hay and haylage. This promotes hind gut health by providing the horse with fibre from plant cell walls. Making sure your horse has sufficient hunt access can help prevent colic and gastric ulcers. The average horse consumes 30-50 liters of water per day. This amount may be higher in hot weather (because the horse will sweat more and use up the body's water reserves) and when working very hard.
