Questions regarding GastroPLUS

Answers regarding GastroPlus

Is it Safe? All of the ingredients in GastroPlus and other My Healthy Horse (MHH) products are GRAS or Generally Regarded as Safe Ingredients. MHH makes a point of not using any ingredients considered "illegal" by the California Horse Racing Board (two of our formulators are CHRB members).

Why an Empty Stomach? Like many other formulas that require empty stomach taking to work properly, it is not so much the ingredients themselves, as how they are taken, and whether their absorption in the bloodstream is affected by food interactions in the stomach.

Such is the case with ingredients such as Arginine, considered a key precursor to Nitric Oxide. It is well known (especially to bodybuilders), that arginine works most effectively when taken on an empty stomach. Protein especially appears to compete for arginine, which means arginine will be used for digestion versus going into the bloodstream where Nitric Oxide Synthesis can convert it to NO. In addition, added sugars upset the delicate sugar balances of GastroPlus required to create the insulin reaction which uptakes the formulation into the bloodstream, bypassing the stomach. Thus, if you take GastroPlus on an empty stomach, you create the circumstances for full formulation bloodstream absorption (FFBA), where otherwise this FFBA uptake is less likely.

What causes the blood brain barrier crossing of GastroPlus? This lies in the use of choline bitartrate, a clinically proven ingredient used in formulations in order to facilitate blood brain barrier crossing ability. As for the particular plant chemical that causes immediate serotonin. While 5HTP is a key precursor to serotonin, there are other co-factors that create this cycle. So there is no ONE component that does this.

What catalyst that can create the chemical serotonin immediately or inhibit NO from becoming N2O or H2O when it comes in contact with O2 or H2O? Where MHH products and NO are concerned, both humans and horses have three known "catalysts" for Nitric Oxide Production: eNOS (endothelial), iNOS (inducible), and nNOS (neuronal). These synthases have been molecularly studied and appear to be of protein structure. These synthases convert arginine to NO in the anaerobic environment of our bodies. This is why administration of Nitric Oxide gas, not to be confused with "laughing gas" or N2O used by dentists, can be dangerous. If any oxygen contaminates the NO gas tank, or gets in through the gas mask - NO can become NO2, a reddish brown gas which is toxic to the body. Again, please do not confuse N2O (laughing gas), with NO2 (nitrous dioxide), with NO (nitric oxide). They are three separate molecules.

Substances (psilocin/Psilocybin, DMT, Mescaline, LSD, MDA, MDEA, MDMA, and Ibogaine) that affect serotonin 5-HT receptors, and whether GastroPlus creates these in triggering serotonin production. There are a number of SSRI drugs around that create serotonin production without producing such substances as LSD. Again, the body creates serotonin naturally when natural precursors are present. Please note MHH products have been used by pro human and equine athletes for years - athletes tested for illegal substances. If MHH produced such substances, they would have shown up and those human or horse athletes would have been disqualified, and our products thrown off the track or off that sport.

What we know on the race track as "milkshaking". Milkshaking is the term used when formulators "milkshake" illegal herbs and substances using "masking" herbs and drugs such as goldenseal. Please be informed MHH neither uses illegal substances in its formulations, nor has ever engaged in "milkshaking" by virtue of its ethical beliefs.
