Colic - post surgical
The Problem
After a horse has undergone extensive colic surgery, his recovery is going to be quite intensive. After post-colic surgery, some horses end up with complications like salmonella, laminitis, peritonitis, or adhesions. Nutritionally supporting the horse to help overcome or prevent some of these issues is paramount to a successful recovery.
How We Address It
GastroPLUS will help the body to formulate more of the necessary nitric oxide molecule that will be directed specifically to increase blood flow to the entire GI tract. This will naturally andnutritionally speed healing of the tissues, and also stimulate motility that is crucial to get the gut moving again. GastroPLUS also increases the mucus production to help coat and soothe the gut, and aid in proper absorption of food and elimination of waste.
Adding NitrOxide will further nutritionally stimulates the healing process by non-specific nitric oxide pathways that will aid in the whole body for recovery. This increase in nitric oxide production throughout the body will help with inflammation, fighting bacteria and viruses, and also importantly offsetting a possible onset of laminitis, or addressing laminitis if it is in the beginning stages.
Begin dosing: double dosing of GastroPLUS (6cc per 100# bodyweight) twice daily, or as recommended by your veterinarian. If dosing both GastroPLUS and NitrOxide, begin GastroPLUS in the AM, and dose NitrOxide at 6cc per 100# bodyweight in the PM. Dose each product separately for best results.
(Ponies, minis and draft breeds: minimum dose is 6cc per 100# bodyweight and double dosing is 12cc per 100# bodyweight.)
